The Anti Police-Terror Project is a Black-led, multi-racial, intergenerational coalition that seeks to build a replicable and sustainable model to eradicate police terror in communities of color. We support families surviving police terror in their fight for justice, documenting police abuses and connecting impacted families and community members with resources, legal referrals, and opportunities for healing. APTP began as a project of the ONYX Organizing Committee.
APTP Sacramento helps people getting out of jail. We charge their phones and offer resources such as snacks, clothing, and blankets as needed. Jail support occurs on the last Monday of every month from 8:00 PM to midnight.
MH First Sacramento, a project of Anti Police-Terror Project, is a cutting-edge new model for non-police response to mental health crisis. The goal of MH First is to respond to mental health crises including, but not limited to, psychiatric emergencies, substance use support, domestic violence safety planning, and mental health support and destigmatization. Our three person team will use de-escalation techniques, non-punitive and life affirming interventions, safety planning and accompaniment to provide community members with much needed services. Our purpose is to interrupt and eliminate the need for law enforcement in mental health crisis first response by providing mobile peer support, de-escalation assistance, and non-punitive and life-affirming interventions, therefore decriminalizing emotional and psychological crises and decreasing the stigma around mental health, substance use, and domestic violence, while also addressing their root causes: white supremacy, capitalism, and colonialism.
Healing Portals are one of our strategies to create intentional community care spaces that are in direct relationship to abolitionist movements seeking to eradicate all forms of state violence. Typical offerings include: Traditional Chinese Medicine, massage, acupuncture, sound bath, herbalist, & more! We are honored to provide these FREE offerings especially for our Palestinian comrades, impacted familes, BIPOC allies and volunteers.
The Anti Police-Terror Project is also a recipient of A Radical Guide’s Mutual Aid General Fund.
