This month, A Radical Guide is sending $550 from the Mutual Aid General Fund to The Awkward Gardener’s Community Table (TAGCT) in Sacramento.
Each month, the fund sends $550 directly to a grassroots mutual aid group. Donations to the fund are matched up to $250, and the full amount goes straight to the group. We haven’t missed a month since we started.
Grocery stores and bakeries end most days with food they didn’t sell. It’s still good. It just didn’t move fast enough to stay on a shelf, and without someone to pick it up, it gets thrown out. Since December 2018, TAGCT has been picking it up. They collect what stores can’t sell before it hits a dumpster and deliver it to free fridges and pantries around Sacramento, and directly to people camping outside who don’t have a fridge to walk to in the first place. In November 2025, they opened a new pantry stop in Arden Arcade.
TAGCT also builds survival kits and warming kits, stocks hydration stations, and sets up community collection points at local businesses where people can drop off supplies for others to pick up. They grow a garden, share what it produces, and accept plant donations year-round.
