Das Hausprojekt Zelle79 ist seit 1999 ein Freiraum für alternative (Jugend-)Kultur, Bildung und selbstverwaltetes Wohnen in Cottbus. Im Jahr 2018 haben wir gemeinsam mit dem Mietshäuser Syndikat das Haus gekauft und sind von Mieter*innen zu Besitzer*innen der Zelle geworden.

Die Geschichte unseres Hausprojekts ist eng mit der Cottbuser Hausbesetzerszene
der 90er-Jahre verbunden. Im Dezember 1994 wurde der Verein für ein multikulturelles Europa e.V. gegründet und hat zunächst das Jugendbegegnungszentrum (JBZ) in der Straße der Jugend 100 verwaltet. Nach der Kündigung der Räume besetzten Vereinsmitglieder und Sympathisant*Innen 1998 ein städtisches Gebäude in der Bahnhofstraße 45 um hier ein Jugendwohnprojekt (JWP) zu etablieren. Nach Verhandlungen mit der Stadtverwaltung wurde 1999 das Haus in der Parzellenstraße 79 angemietet.

In der Parzellenstraße 79 befinden sich seit der Jahrtausendwende unser Wohnprojekt und das Begegnungszentrums unter einem Dach. Die emanzipatorischen und kulturellen Bildungsangebote werden von uns Bewohner*Innen und Nutzer*innen getragen.  Inzwischen sind wir nicht mehr nur Jugendliche, auch Ältere mischen in unserer Vereinsarbeit mit. Unser Anspruch ist es als Vernetzungsplattform für Aktivist*innen zu wirken. Wir unterstützen auch andere Projekte in Cottbus, die unser Selbstverständnis teilen.

The house project Cell79 has been a space for alternative (youth) culture, education and self-governing living in Cottbus since 1999. In 2018 we bought the house together with the tenement syndicate and have become the owner of the cell from tenants.

The history of our house project is closely linked to the Cottbus squatters scene in
the 90s. In December 1994, the Association for a Multicultural Europe eV was founded and initially managed the Youth Exchange Center (JBZ) in Straße der Jugend 100. After the rooms had been terminated, club members and sympathizers occupied an urban building in Bahnhofstrasse 45 in 1998 to establish a youth housing project (JWP). In 1999, after negotiations with the city administration, the house at Parzellenstrasse 79 was rented.

Since the turn of the millennium, our residential project and the meeting center have been under one roof at Parzellenstraße 79. The emancipatory and cultural educational offers are carried by us residents and users. In the meantime, we are no longer just young people, older people are also involved in our association work. Our aim is to act as a networking platform for activists. We also support other projects in Cottbus that share our self-image.
