Stoke is an independent publication covering intellectual, cultural life, and the media.
Stoke was born in the vacuum created by a lack of good writing in English about Bhopal, and beyond. This is an attempt to fill that gap by a proactive coverage of politics, culture, art, literature, science and ideas. We seek to provide an alternative source of media following the recent spate of fake news, sensationalization of the unimportant to distract the masses from the crux of pressing social issues. A stagnation in the growth of good journalism, the limitations of mass media, and isolation of cultural and progressive ideas to closed circles has ensured that ideas do not reach the people. Our aim is to unveil new discourse around everyday living and to provide a platform for good writing in the city.
