Palang Hitam Indonesia

Black Cross Indonesia

Be the first to review

WHO ARE WE?

The Indonesian Black Cross is a network for information networks, solidarity campaigns, medical and legal assistance for the criminalization of anti-authoritarian activists, which was formed in May 2018 in Indonesia. We consist of militant anarchists, students, ordinary civilians, health/medical people as well as field activists who work for the purposes that we have described above.

OUR WORK

In its work, the Black Cross is non-hierarchical and decentralized, where each unit in each city is coordinated and able to carry out its work autonomously and based on individual initiatives. We divide the Black Cross into two sections, namely:

1. Medical: In the face of systemic and predictable violence which is the state’s response to our political expression, the Indonesian Black Cross group tries to provide first aid as much as possible on the ground in every protest and direct action. We will make efforts to provide facilities and street medical personnel in cities and specific conflict locations at points of intense resistance, as widely and openly as possible, and study together with individual street medics and Medical Monitors in each affinity, collective and organization. We will conduct discussions and studies on police tactics and strategies in treating demonstrators.

2. Legal: The increasing confrontation of the people against the state, resulting in the criminalization and detention of anti-authoritarian activists. The Black Cross seeks legal assistance by raising funds, providing legal aid, solidarity campaigns with Indonesian and international anti-authoritarian networks, providing communication channels inside/outside prisons, providing literature and reading for prisoners, psychological assistance and support for prisoners and their families, or, whatever it takes.

OUR NETWORK

The Indonesian Black Cross is not a formal organization with a strict hierarchy, our members join because they have various goals and purposes but are united by one goal as mentioned above. Our platform runs with the concept of decentralization and emphasizes the uniqueness of each individual in their respective regions. We don’t want to be the single pioneering organization that has a monopoly on support for anti-authoritarian activists. Currently our network can be found in several areas, namely, Bandung , Kendari , East Kalimantan and Tulungagung
