News From Nowhere

not-for-profit - a workers'co-op - committed to social justice

News From Nowhere is Liverpool’s not-for-profit radical & community bookshop – established in 1974, and run collectively by a workers’ co-operative.

  • This means that there is no boss & no individual owner! The workers share tasks, responsibilities & decision-making.
  • No-one makes money out of the bookshop. Any profit remains within the business, paying for essential running costs, maintaining our building, & building up our stock. (The workers earn equal rates of pay, set at the living wage rate.)
  • We are committed to social justice – we hope that the literature we stock empowers & inspires people to make positive changes in the world – from challenging the power of corporate capitalism to breaking down prejudiced attitudes to others & ourselves.

We focus on subjects such as feminism, anti-racism, LGBT+, workers’ rights, disability rights, environment & sustainability, animal rights & veganism, anti-capitalism, socialism, anarchism, etc, plus we also stock fiction & poetry, books for children & young people, books on health & wellbeing, and local interest books.
