Mutual Aid Network of Ypsilanti

Be the first to review

The Mutual Aid Network of Ypsilanti (MANY) is both a loose community support network and a worker self-directed 501c3 nonprofit. We focus on a “solidarity, not charity” approach when working with our neighbors.

The inspiration for creating this was so that all of the many grassroots projects in our area could benefit from a horizontal (directly-democratic) and accountable resource that allows us access to fiscal sponsorship, tax incentives, liability insurance, and other benefits to support the grassroots care work we do together.

Mutual aid survival programs are a first step in the path toward collective liberation. We don’t want to rely on food pantries forever! Instead, we want to answer the call of marginalized communities from around the world to participate in anti-oppressive, diverse, consensus-based projects that promote ecological, economic, infrastructural, and social cooperation in order to help build, as the Zapatistas declared, “a world in which many worlds fit.”
