Joe Hill-museet är vackert belägen i den fastighet Joe Hills -eller Joel Emmanuel Hägglund som var hans egentliga namn- familj köpte 1880. Huset är ursprungligen från mitten av 1700-talet och har under årens lopp byggts om och till. Fastigheten är i familjen Hägglund ägo fram till 1902. då modern, Catharina Hägglund dör. I samband med detta upplöses familjen och Joel och hans ädre bror Paul emigrerar till Amerika.

Museet består i dagsläget av ett minnesrum, samt en mindre utställning där man kan följa viktiga händelser i Joe Hills liv. Under vintern 2008-2009 kommer museet och utställningen att organiseras om och en större utställning kommer förhoppningsvis att kunna presenteras framåt våren. Just nu går vi igenom samlingarna och det material som finns tillgängligt. Målsättningen med den nya utökade utställningen är att visa arbetarkampen i ett större globalt perspektiv. Att utifrån Joe Hills samtid, följa utvecklingen fram till dagens globala verklighet.

Gården och museet ägs och förvaltas nu av SAC syndikalisterna som är närbesläktade med Joe Hills fackförening IWW.

Under vintern kommer material och bilder från utställningen och arkiv, fortlöpande läggas ut här på hemsidan.

The Joe Hill Museum is beautifully located in the Joe Hills -or Joel Emmanuel Hägglund property which was his real name family bought in 1880. The house is originally from the mid-1700s and has been rebuilt over and over. The property is owned by the Hägglund family until 1902. when the mother, Catharina Hägglund dies. In connection with this, the family dissolves and Joel and his older brother Paul emigrate to America.

The museum currently consists of a memorial room, as well as a smaller exhibition where you can follow important events in Joe Hill’s life. In the winter of 2008-2009, the museum and exhibition will be reorganized and hopefully a larger exhibition will be presented in the spring. Right now we go through the collections and the materials that are available. The aim of the new expanded exhibition is to show the labor struggle in a larger global perspective. From the perspective of Joe Hill’s contemporary, to follow the trend up to today’s global reality.

The yard and museum are now owned and managed by the SAC syndicalists who are closely related to Joe Hill’s trade union IWW.

During the winter, materials and pictures from the exhibition and archives will be published here on the website.
