Cripps Contra Colonialism

Be the first to review

We are a disability justice organisation from Whadjuk Noongar Boodja in so-called ‘Australia’. We formed in response to the inaccessibility of actions within the movement for Palestinian liberation, and began running eVigils to give disabled people a space to participate.

As crips, we recognise within our own struggle the thread of an oppression shared with colonised and Indigenous peoples. We stand in solidarity with the colonised, from the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples of so-called Australia; to the peoples of Palestine, West Papua, Kanaky, Turtle Island, and all other colonised lands.

Disability justice is defined by the following key principles:

  • Intersectionality
  • Leadership of those most impacted
  • Anti-capitalism
  • Cross-movement solidarity
  • Recognising wholeness
  • Sustainability
  • Commitment to cross-disability solidarity
  • Interdependence
  • Collective access
  • Collective liberation
