Autonomes Zentrum Köln

Autonomes Zentrum is a social center in Cologne, Germany.

Das Autonome Zentrum ist ein Treffpunkt für organisierte und nicht-organisierte Menschen aus den verschiedensten sozialen, politischen und kulturellen Zusammenhängen. Es bietet einen unkommerziellen Raum für Ausstellungen, Infoveranstaltungen, Gruppentreffen, Konzerte, Parties, Kneipe, Essen, Kino und vieles mehr.

Das Autonome Zentrum organisiert sich in vielen Arbeitsgruppen (AGs), die unabhängig an bestimmten Aufgaben arbeiten und so Verantwortung für das AZ übernehmen. Diese einzelner Gruppen sind übergeordet in Verantwortungsbereiche organisiert (Konzert- und Partygruppen, Café- & Kneipengruppen, Politgruppen und Sport- und Bewegungsgruppen). Bei größeren Entscheidungen kommen einzelne Menschen aus den übergeordneten Verantwortungsbereichen und AGs ausgestatet mit einem imperatives Mandat zu einem Koordinierungstreffen oder Nutzer_innenplenum zusammen. So soll die Idee einer Rätedemokratie erprobt werden. Entscheidungen sollen dabei von unten nach oben und möglichst im Konsens aller Nutzer_innen getroffen werden.The Autonomous Center is a meeting place for organized and non-organized people from various social, political and cultural contexts. The Autonomous Center is organized in many working groups (AGs), which work independently on specific tasks and thus take over responsibility for the AZ. These individual groups are organized into higher responsibilities ( concert and party groups , café groups , political groups and sports and movement groups ). For larger decisions, individual people from the overriding areas of responsibility and WGs come equipped with an imperative mandate for a coordination meeting or user plenum. So the idea of ​​a council democracy is to be tested. Decisions should be made from the bottom up and, if possible, by the consensus of all users.

History

The building was squatted on 16th April 2010. After one week of struggle for the house in march 2011, it got a legal treaty, which allowed us to use the house without paying rent. Unfortunately the city government bought the building and wanted us to move out. After a long fight with the city, we finally got a new building in Cologne in September 2013.
