About General Strike LA
When We Strike Together, We Win
General Strike LA is a grassroots, decentralized movement of ordinary people committed to striking for change. We're organizing anyone in LA County who wants to join the cause. Everyone is a volunteer; no special training required. Our chapter was formed on March 1, 2025, and every chapter operates independently.
Research shows that movements engaging 3.5% of a population have never failed to bring about change. Nationally, GSUS is organizing toward 11 million committed strikers. Los Angeles is one node in that network, connecting local organizers, workers, and partner groups to the fight.
Why a General Strike?
We've voted, we've protested, and still they ignore us. Our government refuses to meet our basic needs while the billionaire class hoards wealth and power. We can't wait any longer. Our greatest strength is our labor and our right to refuse it.
A Strike Fund for LA County
Our strike fund will be used to prepare for and sustain a general strike in LA County, including supporting strikers while they refuse work. The only money members receive are reimbursements from costs associated with the vital work of running our chapter. Our chapter is entirely powered by volunteers. The 11M goal, cards signed, chapters, and partner counts are national figures for General Strike U.S. Los Angeles organizes as one of its local chapters. All of it funded by community donations and carried out by volunteers.
Transparency
Where the Money Goes
General Strike LA makes both its income and expenses public. The strike fund covers the day-to-day costs of operating our chapter. We are also building the systems needed to support striking workers so they can stay home.
What if a general strike never happens in LA? After a vote by the GSLA Strike Fund Committee, all remaining funds will be redistributed to mutual aid groups within LA County. Your contribution will support your local community, no matter what.

Demands are finalized, legal frameworks established, and strike funds distributed to registered strikers who need support to hold the line.
