Dandelion Seeds is a grassroots mutual aid group providing food, water, survival gear, harm reduction supplies, first aid, and other small comforts to unhoused neighbors in South Sacramento. They conduct street meals on average twice a month, with supplementary runs during extreme weather and for special occasions.
On any given outreach day, the team distributes home-cooked meals, water, blankets, sleeping bags, Narcan, hygiene supplies, tents, tarps, socks, flashlights, first aid kits, harm reduction kits, books, reading glasses, pet food, firewood, and more.
Beyond material needs, Dandelion Seeds makes an effort to connect with the communities they serve. They spend time getting to know people, their families, their pets. They help with basic veterinary triage and first aid, give general advice on pet and personal care. They listen.
All of this is carried by a dedicated team of street-level volunteers and a wider network of people cooking meals, sewing and knitting, building kits, sourcing supplies, and keeping the work funded. No paid staff. Just people showing up for their neighbors.

Dandelion Seeds welcomes help beyond financial contributions. They're always looking for people willing to cook plant-based meals for distribution. Recipes, packing supplies, and even ingredients can be provided if needed.
They also need help sourcing secondhand items like tents, blankets, and sleeping bags, making survival and comfort supplies, and spreading the word during fundraising pushes. Equipment can be loaned, and if you can't drop off, they can often pick up from your doorstep on meal day.
